About Katie

KatieName: Katie Stephenson

DOB: 08/30/1989

Fan since: 2001

Resides: Orlando, Florida

Favorite drivers: Brian Vickers, Chase Miller, Trevor Bayne, Joey Logano

Favorite tracks: Daytona, Dover, Lowes, Bristol, Talladega, Atlanta

Having followed NASCAR for the past seven years, she evolved from a fan of the wunderkind Jeff Gordon to young guns like Brian Vickers, AJ Allemendinger and Chase Miller. Following the sport since ‘01, she has gained the insights and knowledge of an old school fan, while still having a voice for new fans.

Katie has been writing NASCAR related stories and opinion pieces for over four years. She has always set herself apart from other fans by going against the grain, and using un-biased thoughts to bring attention to issues she cares about in the sport. Always rooting for the underdog plays in her favor, allowing her to always see the flipside of every story. It also keeps her head clear from bias when the top dogs go at each other. Not your typical young female race fan, she’s in it for the sport, the drama and knowing the rules, not the drivers faces. Don’t confuse un-biased with weak opinions, she stands by what she thinks, and can always back it up with information, rather than opinions. Always analytical she looks at statistics seriously and studies the sports rules which bring some extra information to the table in debating the hot issues.

In 2006, Katie started a website called Vickers Hardcore Support. The site is for Vickers fans to show support in unique ways. In its 3rd season, the site is still going strong and picking up steam as Brian’s career progresses. As a result of running a popular campaigning site for Brian, she’s well-known amongst Vickers’ fans, and well liked at that.

Outside of writing about NASCAR, Katie is currently in college, studying to become a teacher. Her passions outside of NASCAR are music and pursuing the Lord. A girl of strong christian faith, she is heavily involved in her church, and calls Jesus her personal Lord and Savior.

Message from Katie:

Hey! Thanks for checking out our blog, we have both been writing for a long time and decided to collaborate and make a blog to see if indeed two heads are better than one. I’m not great at writing about myself, but I do want to say thanks to everyone that has encouraged my writing throughout the years. The best of that is Mike Joy, I knew as a 16 year old, having a veteren NASCAR media personality taking notice of my writing, I was on the right track. I also want to thank Rob for always praising my work more than it deserved. I want to thank my dear friend Kristen for always opening doors for me to meet the right people and for keeping me up to date with everything going on in the garage. In an odd way I owe thanks to Raygan Swan for showing me how not to act as a writer, and for pushing me to show women can write legitimate pieces of journalism about this sport. Most importantly, I want to thank every single fan that has ever written to me, either in complaint or agreement, the feedback keeps me typing, and I appreciate it all.

Well done, I especially like your thank you to Raygan Swan, very funny. Keep up the good work. I am in a couple of NASCAR fan groups and I would like to invite you to join one or the other. Please let me know if you want to or have the time. Thanks for sharing your take on NASCAR with us all.

I’ve been reading your stuff on nascar.com and I love it. Rated a few and responded a couple times too. This site is great, thanks for making it. I’m also into writing and opinion but haven’t really found a true focus yet, thus I’m usually posting or blogging online. Keep it up girl!
